Dating had always been a foreign language to me. I had married my high school sweetheart and was still married to him today. So when my fourteen year old daughter came up to me and asked how people dated and what they did or what they talked about, I was unsure how to answer. She was so adorable staring at me with her big blue eyes and cute little puppy dog face and I had no idea what to say.

I grew up as one of four daughters and unlike all of my sisters who understood passion and dating I was inexperienced. I had always just assumed thatmy husbandwas my first, last, and forever love.My sisters had all thought that i was crazy and even to this day they question the passion and romance in ourrelationship. But it was at this crucial point in my adorable daughters adolescent life that I knew that asking my sisters for help was going to be my only option. While the thought of their love lives nearly scared the stuffing out of me I knew that they would understand the more complex world of dating better then me, not to mention the fact that they would provide better answers then some Chicken Soup book I would have gotten at the library.

After I had contacted my sisters to let them know about my current situation we had all agreed that getting together to meet for lunch would be a great way to strategize our plan. My sisters were opposites: the oldest beautiful, successful and twice divorced, the second oldest was a cutesingle mother who had little to offer, and my younger sister had just graduated from college and was almost to adorable. I instantly started to catch my sisters up on what had been going on and they had agreed with me that passion was something that a cute little fourteen year old was not ready for. They told me what to say and how I should control my reactions if she asked a question i may not have expected of her. She was bound to have heard some stuff in school.
